The purpose of this study was to compare the English reading achievement of the fifth year air cadets taught with discourse analysis to those taught with conventional method. The experimental group and the controlled group, each consisting of 32 students of the fifth year air cadets, were taught English reading Comprehension. The former was taught with discourse analysis while the latter with conventional method. For four weeks, two periods a week, the students in each group were taught the same passage and did the same exercises. Upon completion of teaching-learning periods, an English reading achievement test was administered to both groups. The achievement scores resulted from the administration of the test were analyzed and tested to see if there were any differences between the mean scores of the two groups. The result of this study showed that there was significant difference between the English reading achievement of the two groups at the level of .05. The mean scores of the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the controlled group.
