The purpose of this research was to study the welfare of elementary school teachers in the remote areas under the authority of the National Primary Education Commission. The samples of this research were 318 of elementary school teachers in the remote areas from 13 provinces within 6 geographical regions of Thailand in the academic year 1985. The samples were obtained by means of multi Stage sampling. Questionnaires were used to collect data. The obtained data were statistically analyzed by means of percentage. Conclusions After studying 7 sections of welfare of the elementary school teachers in the remote areas in the following aspects : opportunity in education and promotion, security and finance, health, services, recreational services, teaching plan, communication and safety and others, the data can be concluded as follows : 1.Most of elementary school teachers in the remote areas got more than half of items in each of six sections. They were: opportunity in education and promotion, security and finance, health, services, recreational services, teaching plan and others. 2.Most of the teachers got less in communication and safety welfare aspects. 3.The teachers offered suggestions for some improvement as follow : To continue paying the hardship allowance, and raising the rate of money ; and to reduce steps in considering schools to be the elementary schools in the remote areas in each three years. To have privilege in vehicle fare from home to school, or from district to city. Finally, to reduce half of the bus fare for the teachers. To provide houses for the teachers who needed residences.
