The main objective of this research is to study the format and strategy of radio utility for conflict resolution and the correlation between radio and other media. There are 10 variables in order to explain the result of this thesis that include the utility of newspaper, press release, newsletter, booklet, radio, interpersonal communication, behavior of the effect group and of the opponent. The research design is both qualitative and quantitative types. In the quantitative research, data analysis is done by using Path analysis technique to analyse correlative regression of each variable. For the qualitative study, the researcher has collected documents and reports that concerned the conflict resolution. Besides, in this research, radio utility plan is proposed for conflict resolution in hydro power plant development project of The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand in the future. Data analysis of radio utility for conflict resolution in hydro power plant development of EGAT in Kanchanaburi province can be summarized as follows: 1. The radio medium has been used by EGAT for conflict resolution in two ways: firstly, to produce its own weekly 30 minute radio program for nationwide broadcasting through Radio Thailand, secondly, to distribute press release to Radio Thailand for broadcasting in its news program. 2. The content of the radio program can be divided into two types: firstly, information and facts from EGAT so as to correct the public misunderstanding, secondly, the importance and necessity to develop water resource for power generating, in other words, to help create the right concept of building dams. 3. Apart from other media, radio is served as supporting medium since it is the most effective means of giving information to the public rather than changing their ideas. Therefore, conflict resolution is done by systematically selecting various kinds of media according to their characteristics and potentials. 4. Interpersonal communication is more effective in conflict resolution than radio and press release, respectively. The variables which have the least correlation with conflict resolution are correlation with the effect group and with the opponent respectively. 5. Regarding causal relation of variables, it was found that interpersonal communication is most effective to the behavior of the effect group. 6. The utility of press release is more effective to newspaper than newsletter. The utility of booklet is not effective to the behavior of the opponent but effective to the performance of the government. 7. The ratio of correlation variables that can describe conflict resolution is moderate, i.e. 0.513 of regression analysis. As for the utility of radio for conflict resolution plan shown in the end of this thesis, the duration is 5 years (1985-1989) by adding more network of radio program to reach the target audien up to 65 percent. This target group lives in the area where EGAT will implement its operating in the future as well as in the densely populated area. The plan also aims at such target audience as academicians, student, and mass media by adding one more radio worker in Bangkok. The content of the program is presented into 2 forms: in an informative from such as news presentation, and in an emotive form that attracts the audience. The plan evaluation is also carried out annually so as to improve the following plan.
