The objective of this research was to study the communication behavior on male sterilization of the acceptors at the Population and Community Development Association. The study also aimed at examining the acceptors’ demographic, socio-economic characteristics and general communication behavior as well as investigating the relationships between these variables. The major results of this study were as follows: Most of the acceptors were 30-40 years old with the educational level at grade 1-4. They were private employees, earned not over 5000 baht per month and most of them had two living children. Before accepting male sterilization service, they had used other contraceptive methods and the most popular one was oral contraceptive. Most of the acceptors disagreed with negative side of information about male sterilization. They listened more to the positive side of information. Sources of the positive information were likely to be mass media while the negative were interpersonal media, especially friends. Mass media played a more important role than interpersonal media in giving knowledge about male sterilization to the acceptors while interpersonal media had more important role than mass media in persuading the acceptors to accept male sterilization. Information seeking to accept male sterilization was related to the level of strength of ties among those concerned as well as the level of homophily. These homophilies were sex, marital status and occupation. Age of the acceptors was correlated to mass media exposure especially movies, communication with parents, relatives, friends and all interpersonal communication. Both income and education were correlated to exposure to newspapers, magazines and all mass communication. Education also was correlated to television exposure. Moreover, occupation was correlated to communication with friends. Age of the acceptors was correlated to information seeking about male sterilization from their parents and relatives while occupation was correlated to such an information from friends. Income was correlated to the information from magazines. Education was only one factor which was not correlated to information seeking about male sterilization from mass media and interpersonal media.
