Analyzes the economic role of Chinese in Southeast Asia from a Marxist point of view. Considers the historic roots of Chinese emigration and the general characteristics of the Chinese population in the various countries. Describes the role of the Chinese "bourgeoisie" in trade, industry, agriculture and banking. Discrimination against Chinese in Thailand, South Vietnam, and the Philippines is discussed.
