Purpose: The purpose of this research was to study the opinions of the mathayom suksa three students concerning the curriculum, methods of teaching, the value of social studies and recommendation of social studies curriculum, methods of instruction to meet the students' needs. Procedure: The data were collected through three types of questionnaires; rating scale, multiple choice and open-end. The questionnaires were sent to two hundred male students and two hundred female students in the government schools and private schools in five provinces of educational region nine. The obtained data were analyzed statistically by means of arithmetic mean, standard deviation and percentage, and then presented by tables and explanation. Findings: The majority of students' opinions showed that the content of the social studies-curriculum of mathayom suksa three was very interesting, but the information concerning; politics, controversial issues, state govern-ments, political parties, psychology, the problems of adolescent, social problems, the international problems, historical geography and the students' political roles should be added. In the students' opinions the method of teaching they liked were as follows: adding information in the text by teacher's explanation especially the relevant current events, using teaching aids, arranging field-trips and invitng resourse persons to the class. The students also expressed the lecture methods and the teacher-centered techniques of instruct-ion as the preference. The majority of students suggested that the teachers should be able to use effective teaching aids and should improve their teaching techniques continuously. Moreover the social studies teachers should be well trained and have some teaching experience so that they were able to train the students effectively. The students' opinions on the value of social studies subjects were that, civics was the most valuable because of its application to everyday life, geography and history were rated as secondary. Ethics was considered as the least valuable subject.
