Consists of sixteen papers presented at the Annual Meeting of the Society. Defines concept of "the tribe", explores linguistic and communications problems in defining "tribe". Mathematical structures in ethnological systems and the "cultunit" are briefly explained. Religious symbolism and ethnic awareness are discussed, specifically in regard to the Chinese.
