อาจกล่าวได้ว่าช่วงปี พ.ศ. 2490-2521 ถือเป็นช่วงเวลาที่การเมืองไทยมีสีสันที่สุด ในฐานะช่วงเวลาของการเปลี่ยนผ่านทางการเมืองครั้งสำคัญ ระหว่างฝ่ายหัวก้าวหน้า(ปีกซ้าย) และฝ่ายอนุรักษนิยม(ปีกขวา) ในไทย โดยเฉพาะช่วงปี พ.ศ. 2516-2521 ซึ่งการเมืองไทยและการเมืองโลกล้วนเข้าสู่จุดตึงเครียด เกิดขบวนการทางการเมืองของผู้มีอุดมการณ์ต่างกันเกิดขึ้นเป็นรูปเป็นร่างในไทย
