ศูนย์วิทยาศาสตร์เพื่อการอนุรักษ์งานศิลปะ (SCICCA) ร่วมกับสำนักงานวิทยทรัพยากร จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย จัดอบรม Paper Conservation Workshop 2026

กรุงเทพมหานคร - ศูนย์วิทยาศาสตร์เพื่อการอนุรักษ์งานศิลปะ (SCICCA) ร่วมกับสำนักงานวิทยทรัพยากร จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย จัดกิจกรรม Paper Conservation Workshop 2026 โครงการอบรมเชิงปฏิบัติการด้านการอนุรักษ์เอกสารกระดาษ ระหว่างวันที่ 27 พฤษภาคม และ 4–6 มิถุนายน 2569 โดยมีผู้เข้าร่วมจากหอสมุดแห่งชาติ ห้องสมุด และหอจดหมายเหตุ หอศิลป์ และหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้อง รวมถึงผู้สนใจเกี่ยวกับการดูแลรักษาทรัพยากรทางวัฒนธรรม จำนวน 20 ท่าน เพื่อเสริมสร้างองค์ความรู้และทักษะด้านการอนุรักษ์กระดาษตามมาตรฐานสากล

กิจกรรมครั้งนี้แบ่งออกเป็น 2 ช่วง ช่วงแรกจัดขึ้นเมื่อวันที่ 27 พฤษภาคม 2569 ณ คณะวิทยาศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย ในรูปแบบ Workshop ด้านกระบวนการผลิตกระดาษ โดยได้รับเกียรติจากผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์ ดร. กุนทินี สุวรรณกิจ ผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านกระดาษ และหัวหน้าภาควิชาเทคโนโลยีทางภาพและการพิมพ์ คณะวิทยาศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย เป็นวิทยากร ผู้เข้าร่วมได้ศึกษาตั้งแต่ประวัติศาสตร์และพัฒนาการของกระดาษ โครงสร้างและคุณสมบัติของเส้นใยแต่ละประเภท กระบวนการผลิตกระดาษชนิดต่างๆ การแยกแยะประเภทของกระดาษจากการสังเกตและสัมผัสจริง ตลอดจนได้ทดลองทำกระดาษด้วยตนเอง เพื่อสร้างความเข้าใจพื้นฐานเกี่ยวกับวัสดุที่เป็นหัวใจสำคัญในงานอนุรักษ์กระดาษ

กิจกรรมช่วงที่สอง คือ Paper Conservation Workshop จัดขึ้นระหว่างวันที่ 4–6 มิถุนายน 2569 ณ ห้องหนังสือหายาก สำนักงานวิทยทรัพยากร จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย โดยมี Ms. Jennifer Beetem Graduate Fellow of the Winterthur/University of Delaware Program in Art Conservation (WUDPAC) สหรัฐอเมริกา เป็นวิทยากรหลักในการถ่ายทอดองค์ความรู้ด้านการอนุรักษ์กระดาษ ทั้งนี้ WUDPAC ถือเป็นหนึ่งในหลักสูตรด้านการอนุรักษ์งานศิลปะที่ได้รับการยอมรับในระดับนานาชาติ

ในโอกาสนี้ รองศาสตราจารย์ ดร.นาตยา งามโรจนวณิชย์ ผู้อำนวยการสำนักงานวิทยทรัพยากร ได้กล่าวต้อนรับผู้เข้าร่วมการอบรม โดยมี รองศาสตราจารย์ ดร.อมร เพชรสม ที่ปรึกษาสำนักงานวิทยทรัพยากร และอดีตผู้อำนวยการสำนักงานวิทยทรัพยากร ผู้มีส่วนสำคัญในการผลักดันความร่วมมือของโครงการ และรองศาสตราจารย์ ดร.พิชญดา เกตุเมฆ ผู้อำนวยการ SCICCA ร่วมพบปะผู้เข้าร่วมและมอบของที่ระลึกแก่วิทยากร

รองศาสตราจารย์ ดร.นาตยา งามโรจนวณิชย์ กล่าวว่า “การอนุรักษ์กระดาษในสภาพภูมิอากาศแบบเขตร้อนไม่ใช่เรื่องง่าย ความร้อน ความชื้น และกาลเวลา ล้วนเป็นปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อการเสื่อมสภาพของเอกสาร การดูแลรักษาทรัพยากรเหล่านี้จึงต้องอาศัยทั้งองค์ความรู้ทางวิทยาศาสตร์ ทักษะเฉพาะทาง และบุคลากรที่พร้อมพัฒนาตนเองอยู่เสมอ ความร่วมมือระหว่างสำนักงานวิทยทรัพยากรและ SCICCA ในครั้งนี้จึงนับเป็นอีกก้าวสำคัญในการเสริมสร้างศักยภาพด้านการอนุรักษ์เอกสารของประเทศ”

ด้าน รองศาสตราจารย์ ดร.อมร เพชรสม กล่าวว่า “ห้องสมุดไม่ควรทำหน้าที่เพียงเก็บรักษาคอลเลกชัน แต่ต้องเข้าใจด้วยว่าจะดูแลรักษาทรัพยากรเหล่านั้นอย่างไรให้คงอยู่ต่อไปได้อย่างยั่งยืน จึงรู้สึกยินดีเป็นอย่างยิ่งที่ได้เห็นความร่วมมือระหว่างสำนักงานวิทยทรัพยากรและ SCICCA เกิดขึ้นอย่างเป็นรูปธรรมผ่านโครงการนี้”

ตลอด 3 วันของการอบรม ผู้เข้าร่วมได้เรียนรู้ทั้งภาคทฤษฎีและภาคปฏิบัติอย่างเข้มข้น ครอบคลุมหัวข้อสำคัญด้านการอนุรักษ์เอกสาร อาทิ Preventive Conservation, Environmental Control and Emergency Planning, Archival Housing and Materials, Dry Cleaning Techniques, Condition Report and Damage Assessment ตลอดจนการพัฒนาคลังคำศัพท์ด้านการอนุรักษ์ในหลายภาษา เพื่อส่งเสริมความเข้าใจร่วมกันในแวดวงวิชาชีพ

บรรยากาศการอบรมเป็นไปอย่างสนุกสนาน และเปิดกว้างต่อการแลกเปลี่ยนความคิดเห็นระหว่างผู้เข้าร่วมจากหลากหลายหน่วยงาน หลายท่านสะท้อนว่าการอบรมครั้งนี้ช่วยเปิดมุมมองใหม่ๆ และต่อยอดความรู้ และความเข้าใจด้านการอนุรักษ์กระดาษของตนให้กว้างขวางยิ่งขึ้น ทั้งในเชิงวิชาการและการประยุกต์ใช้ในการทำงานจริง

ดร.นวรัตน์ แก้วอ่อน ผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านวิทยาศาสตร์เพื่อการอนุรักษ์งานศิลปะจาก SCICCA กล่าวทิ้งท้ายว่า “รู้สึกยินดีเป็นอย่างยิ่งที่กิจกรรมนี้ได้เกิดขึ้น และหวังว่าการอบรมครั้งนี้จะเป็นอีกหนึ่งพื้นที่แห่งการเรียนรู้ที่ช่วยเสริมสร้างความเข้มแข็งให้กับวงการอนุรักษ์ในประเทศไทย รวมถึงส่งเสริมการสร้างเครือข่ายความร่วมมือระหว่างผู้ปฏิบัติงานด้านการอนุรักษ์ต่อไป เพราะสำหรับงานอนุรักษ์แล้ว การเรียนรู้ไม่มีวันสิ้นสุด”

SCICCA and the Office of Academic Resources, Chulalongkorn University, Host “Paper Conservation Workshop 2026” to Elevate Standards to International Levels
Bangkok — The Science Conservation Centre for Art (SCICCA), in collaboration with the Office of Academic Resources at Chulalongkorn University, organized the Paper Conservation Workshop 2026. This intensive training program, held on May 27 and June 4–6, 2026, aimed to enhance the knowledge and technical skills of 20 professionals from the National Library, libraries, archives, and art and cultural centers. The participants shared a common goal of advancing their practices in accordance with international preservation standards.

A Two-Phase Comprehensive Learning Experience The program was structured in two phases. The first phase, held on 27 May 2026 at the Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, focused on the Papermaking Process. Led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Kuntinee Suvarnakich, a paper specialist and Head of the Department of Imaging and Printing Technology, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, participants explored the history and evolution of paper, fiber structures, and manufacturing techniques. Attendees also had the opportunity to make paper by hand and practice identifying paper types through observation and touch, building a practical foundation for conservation work.

The second phase, the Paper Conservation Workshop, ran from June 4–6, 2026 at The Rare Book Collections, Office of Academic Resources, Chulalongkorn University. The workshop was led by Ms. Jennifer Beetem, a Graduate Fellow of the Winterthur/University of Delaware Program in Art Conservation (WUDPAC), USA, one of the world’s most prestigious conservation training programs.

The opening ceremony was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nattaya Ngamrojanavanich, Director of the Office of Academic Resources, who delivered the welcome address. Also present were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Amorn Petsom, Advisor and former Director of the Office of Academic Resources, whose advocacy was instrumental in bringing the project to life, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pichayada Katemake, Director of SCICCA.

Over three-day workshop, participants worked through an intensive program covering both theory and practice. Topics included Preventive Conservation, Environmental Control and Emergency Planning, Archival Housing and Materials, Dry Cleaning Techniques, Condition Report and Damage Assessment, and the collaborative development of a multilingual conservation glossary to support shared professional understanding across institutions.

The workshop was marked by open discussion and a genuine exchange of experience among participants from a wide range of institutions. Many noted that the training had expanded their understanding of paper conservation, both as a discipline and in its day-to-day application, in ways they had not expected.
