Taiwan Lecture on Chinese Studies: Marriage on the Road to Equality: A Taiwan Story

TRCCS and Taiwan Lecture on Chinese Studies introduce the new seminar on "Marriage on the Road to Equality: A Taiwan Story" lectured by Prof. Chao-ju CHEN (陳昭如教授), professor and director of the Women’s and Gender Studies Program at National Taiwan University. The seminar will tell the story that challenges conventional understandings of legalizing "same-sex marriage" in Taiwan and advocates for a reorientation toward “single equality” in the age of marriage equality. Moreover, the seminar will be offering you the thought-provoking questions on how same sex marriage should and could have been legalized as well as what is the preferred role of marriage on the road to equality from Taiwan’s experience in 2019 legalization of same-sex marriage law.
