Presents trends in population aging in Thailand and government responses to population aging. Provides an overview of social and demographic characteristics of older persons as well as persons at 50-59 of age. Examines trends in living arrangements among older Thais and the current material well-being, including older persons’ own economic support, income levels and adequacy, and housing quality and household possessions. Considers material support, social contact, and care of grandchildren whose parents are absent. Analyzes self-assessed health, health problems, functional limitations, the need and provision of personal care, and psychological health.
