Southeast Asian Journal of Economics: Are Public Hospitals in Malaysia Efficient? An Application of DEA and Tobit Analysis
Examines efficiency of public hospitals in Malaysia to find factors affecting their performance, by applying Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and Tobit model. Reveals high efficiency of those samples with scores of above 90 percent. Reflects some inefficient aspects, covering daily average number of admissions, and number of outpatients per doctor where hospital classification have influenced hospital inefficiency.
