Sustainable Social Development in Asia and the Pacific: Towards a People-Centred Transformation
Reviews key trends, patterns and challenges in social development in Asia and the Pacific and summarizes the social development gaps as countries in the region take steps to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Suggests a six-point agenda of policy for people-centred development, to harness the potential of economic growth to create jobs, broaden social protection coverage, provide universal access to education, health care, and basic infrastructure, promote gender equality and women’s economic empowerment, enhance financial inclusion, and ensure social inclusion of vulnerable groups.
