ASEAN-China cooperation on regional connectivity and sustainability

Studies China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity (MPAC) 2025. Includes Cambodia’s policy toward Lancang-Mekong cooperation, a case study of railway projects in Southeast Asia in building sustainable regional connectivity and the analysis from ASEAN-China Center. Discusses the origins and content of China-Malaysia Port Alliance (CMPA) lessons learned by, Malaysia in China’s BRI, and improving regional connectivity through synergizing the MPAC 2025 and the BRI. Considers Myanmar as a link in ASEAN-China physical connectivity, as well as principles to join BRI projects from Philippines experience. Explores harmonizing China’s BRI with the MPAC and opportunities and challenges for alignment between the BRI and MPAC 2025.
