Myanmar’s Education Reforms: A Pathway to social Justice?
Studies the process of education reform and draws out the lesson learnt for Myanmar’s government and citizens, as well as for aid and development community who have underpinned the reforms. Reviews the state of education prior to the 2010 elections Describes the role of monastic education in maintaining ethic nationality, language, and culture and how the reforms have impacted Myanmar’s higher education. Focuses on the reforms and the restructuring of teacher education and training. Discusses Myanmar’s struggle with ethnic and linguistic diversity and structural challenges in alternative systems run by Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs).
