SUMMARY

She was a Queen is a good historical novel writing. The story covers the events leading up to the fall of the Pagan Dynasty about 1287. In particular it is focused on the peasant girl Ma Saw, Who became Queen Saw and tried to save Burma from Tartar invasion. The book gives the most interesting picture of Marco Polo's arrival in Burma as part of an Embassy from Kublai Khan seeking the King's recognition of his overlord ship, and the fall of the King's Dynasty a few months later. The author makes it seem as if it had happened and the book includes 21 illustrations and a folding map of Burma
