T.L.A. Bulletin, the prime and the only library periodical in Thailand issued by the Thai Library Association started the •first issue in 1957 and has been continued since. The objective of this thesis is to analyze the content of articles on library science published in the T.L.A. Bulletin from the first issue to the sixth issue of volume 19, 1975. The data base of 301 articles are divided into five groups according to the library science subject categories devised as follows: foundations 88; types of library 110; library services 48; resources and technical services 33; children and young adult literature 22. To examine the quantity in each content category, 27 content analysis tables are constructed which contain the validity approved by the authority in the field. Research results conclude as follows: 1. Of the 128 authors, 2 contributed three or more articles accounting for 56.81 percent of the 301 articles. Only 83 articles or 27.57 percent of 301 articles indicated reference sources, Of 551 items of source materials used by the writers as citations, 54.81 percent wore books and 37.93 percent were periodical articles of which 26 were articles from the T.L.A. Bulletin& An examination of the dates of references at the time of citation in the T.L.A. Bulletin showed that the over half of them (53.18%) were five years or least. 2. The findings of the content of the articles analyze-d are as follows. (a) For every five year from 1957-1975, the majority of the articles had various emphasis on subject content as follows: 1957 to 1961 school libraries;1962 to 1966 biography of librarians and writers; 1967 to 1971 university libraries and children and young adult literature; 1972 to •1975 principles of library administration. (b) The main topics included the following categories: 1) Articles concerning foundations emphasized on the role of library as social, educational and self-development institution; levels of library education and courses conducted in library schools; history of books and-accomplishment of librarians and writers. 2) Articles concerning types of library emphasized on problems of library management; buildings and collections of university libraries; the classification of resources in the National Library; buildings, activities and services of public libraries; professional work of school librarians; purposes, resources and professional work of special libraries, documention and information centers and archives; and resources in foreign libraries. 3) Articles concerning library services emphasized on types of reference books in reference service; purposes and management of rural services; objectives of the International Book Year and activities carried on during the National Book Week, and principles and activities of library clubs. 4) Articles concerning resources and technical services emphasized on classification process of book and acquisition of periodicals, pamphlets and newspapers. 5) Articles concerning children and young adult literature emphasized on the interest and reading needs of different aged-group of children. Suggestions: 1. Library schools should develop skills of students in expressing opinion and in communicating with the public through writing. Besides, librarians and library science lecturers should be encouraged to write more 2. Editors of the T.L.A. Bulletin should keep pace with library science development and ask authorities in the field to contribute articles for publication in the journal so as to obtain articles of recent significant events. 3. Some important subject fields that are scarcely found in the T .L.A. Bulletin are library services, resources and technical services. Consequently, editors should ask for articles from experts in those fields. With articles in these subjects included, the bulletin will be more benefitial to librarians.
