The research is the development of a truck scale system which is appropriate for local industries. The proposed truck scale system can be easily connected to any existing mechanical truck scale which will convert to an semi-mechanic and semi-electronic system. The fully electronic truck scale can also be applied in order to enhance system performance. The system composes of a load cell which will be connected to the existing mechanical truck scale, a microprocessor controlled scale indicator and a microcomputer which is locally available. The main points of the research are to develop the truck scale in system design level; i.e. design of high efficient and low cost system, design of high accuracy scale indicator which has a capability of data communication with microcomputer, design of truck scale control software package which is suitable for local industries, and the installation of the proposed system in actual factory for testing. The system has an accuracy of better than 0.1 % reading value which is specified by the Ministry of Commerce. It can record and process all weight information concerning incoming and outgoing goods and raw material. It can print receiving notes, delivery notes, summarized reports and memorize all of the information concerning goods, raw material, customer's name and transportation service company's name.
