| The European
Documenation Center (EDC) was established at Chulalongkorn University
in August 1993 with the support of the European Commission in Brussels
and as such it forms an integrated part of the Chulalongkorn University
European Studies Programme (CUESP). The EDC is located on the fifth floor
of the Center of Academic Resources
(CAR) Chulalongkorn University. The EDC is a specialist library with books and material in English about economics, politics, law and history of the European integration process, including books on the institutions of the European Union and specific policy subjects. Until today, the Centre holds a collection of more than 1,800 books and also 24 Journals on topics related to the European Union and European Integration, in particular with focus on historical, political, economic and legal aspects. The collection also provides information and books on the 15 member states of the European Union (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom). |
|
| As granted
by the European Commission, the EDC receives, on a regular basis, all the official publications of the institutions of the European Union (EU). This means that it contains the texts and documents of all legislation of the Union, as well as bulletins, reports, policy statements, records of debates etc. including an on-line access to databases to the official documentation of the EU. The information can be very specific and the EDC is as such the only centre in Thailand where these kinds of information can be retrieved. The EDC is open for external users such as academics, students and researchers who are preparing a thesis or who are doing other academic research. The EDC also welcomes the general public who may be interested in consulting our collection. The EDC provides also with its up-to-date collection of books and material on European affairs, the research and class support for 30-40 M.A. students in the Master of Arts programme on European Studies (an interdisciplinary programme under the Graduate School of Chulalongkorn University). |
