- Scopus, a product of Elsevier, was developed in close collaboration with librarians and researchers from more than 22 institutions around the world through the Development Partner Program, and was commercially launched in November 2004 as the "largest" abstract and citation database of research literature and quality web sources. The database can be used for collection development as well as for research.
